The First Tee Outstanding Participant Leadership Summit is an interactive and educational event in which teen participants have the opportunity to develop and hone skills to become leaders in their chapters, schools and communities.
Teens explore the importance of community service
The Outstanding Participant Leadership Summit will be held November 8 -11, 2017 in Orlando, Fl. in conjunction with The First Tee Network Meeting, a biennial conference for chapter representatives of The First Tee.
The teens attended educational workshops that covered a variety of topics including the importance of community service and volunteerism, financial literacy, social media. During the workshops, participants developed plans for leading a meaningful service project in the community as a way to apply the skills and concepts learned at the four-day summit.
College Scholarship Awarded
Of the 28 participants in attendance, eight are named semifinalists for The First Tee Outstanding Participant Award, presented by Shell Oil Company and receive college scholarships.
Congratulations to Robyn Battles from The First Tee of Ft. Worth and Carlo Carino from The First Tee of Greater New Orleans who were named The First Tee’s Outstanding Participants. Each received a $20,000 college scholarship from The First Tee Founding Corporate Partner Shell Oil Company. The remaining six semifinalists each received a $2,500 college scholarship, also provided by Shell Oil Company.
HOW TO PARTICIPATE
This event is only available to teens involved in chapters of The First Tee. Most of the events and programs have a selection process that includes an application reviewed by a committee. Parents, if you want your child to participate, please inquire at your chapter.
