Who Should Attend?

The First Tee offers group lessons to all kids and teens, regardless of background or previous experience. Any child 2nd through 12th grade can participate regardless of physical ability or family finances. All we ask is that kids come with an open mind and positive attitude. In addition to improved golf skill, parents have reported dramatic improvements in their child’s behavior over time.*

Our summer classes use the game of golf to promote healthy lifestyle choices and build character. They can range from summer camps that generally last one to two weeks to sessions that last about eight weeks. Our curriculum is divided into five levels, each with a different focus and building upon youth development. Every participant starts the PLAYer level, regardless of age, to learn golf fundamentals and The First Tee’s Code of Conduct. Working through each skill level over the years, participants aim to complete the Ace level, which focuses on setting goals, career education, and giving back to the community.

Can I Afford Summer Camp?

On average, the full cost of the summer season is around $160. All of our chapters offer financial aid so that a student is never turned away due to inability to pay. Golf-specific attire is not required and local chapters provide access to balls and clubs. It is because of the support of our amazing donors that The First Tee chapters are able to provide youth development and education at an affordable price.

What can my child gain?

The First Tee emphasizes Nine Core Values: honesty, integrity, sportsmanship, respect, confidence, responsibility, perseverance, courtesy and judgment. Through golf and our core values, kids and teens will learn life skills including:

  • Making proper introductions
  • Managing emotions
  • Resolving conflicts
  • Setting up step-by-step goals
  • Planning for the future
  • Appreciating diversity
