Jimmy Walker: Giving Back and Winning Big

When it comes to supporting The First Tee and its mission, PGA TOUR player Jimmy Walker is not just talk. Like many professional golfers, his commitment to positively impact the lives of young people is a real and personal investment.

This week, our latest Public Service Announcement featuring Jimmy Walker is hitting screens. We want to fill you in on the action behind the scenes.

Walker gives back to his community through his support of The First Tee of Greater San Antonio. He serves on the board of directors for Golf San Antonio, which is the 501(c)3 nonprofit organization that oversees the chapter’s activities.

IMG_7615Walker’s contributions will allow The First Tee of Greater San Antonio to expand its reach to additional participants through after school and in school programs.

“If you are a fan of golf and you want to continue to see good golf, it starts with kids,” said Walker. “You can really help the kids along.”

Was it any coincidence Walker went on to win the Valero Texas Open after spending the first part of the week with these youngsters at The First Tee of Greater Antonio? Well, we can’t answer that. But what we can say is when you give back, you generally feel good.

And feeling good makes for a better golf game, don’t you think?

  4. I’d love to get involved with volunteering for the First Tee Program in Westchester, NY. I live in Rye, NY and belong to Rye Golf Club. I have a passion for the game of golf and it’s great history. I would truly enjoy sharing my knowledge of golf with young golfers. The idea of encouraging and mentoring new golfers so they can enjoy this great game for the rest of their lives would be very rewarding to me. Thanks, Tony
