Congratulations to Cameron Champ, an alumnus of The First Tee of Greater Sacramento who is currently the 9th ranked junior golfer in the world according to Golfweek–he finished the Junior Invitational at Sage Valley just one point behind the leader at 4 under par!
The Junior Invitational is the most prestigious junior golf championship in the world—an invitation-only annual event for the top 54 players from around the globe, hosted by the renowned Sage Valley Golf Club in South Carolina.
Prior to playing in the Junior Invitational, Champ held a golf clinic for participants at The First Tee of Aiken and The First Tee of Augusta. “I have learned so much from The First Tee of Greater Sacramento. They have given me some wonderful opportunities over the years which have helped me in my golf journey. It’s important to me to able to give something back to help those that have helped me along the way,” said Champ.
As a teen golfer who got his start at The First Tee in 2003, Champ feels it is important to show young people that with perseverance, integrity, confidence, leadership, goal setting, hard work and commitment you can secure a college education as well as develop a love for the game of golf.
In the fall, Champ will play on the golf team at Texas A&M University. And because of his hard work in the classroom, he will be a sophomore when he arrives in College Station, with 31 completed college credits thanks to the five college classes he is taking online.
Keep your eyes on this junior player! We are proud of Champ’s accomplishments and of his commitment to The First Tee!
