Nearly seven years ago, Ericka Schneider had the opportunity of a lifetime. One of 81 junior golfers, Ericka earned her spot to play Pebble Beach in The First Tee Open, but her career in golf was just beginning.
While competing on a pro tour can be very challenging, Ericka continues to live up to the expectations her chapter has for her.
“We are so proud of all that Ericka has accomplished but we are even more proud of the wonderful young woman she has become,” said Lexi McKenney, executive director of The First Tee of Manatee/Sarasota.
In addition to her time competing, Ericka continues to give back to the organization that helped get her started, helping with fundraisers, clinics, and serving as a role model and mentor to young golfers.
Her plans for the future include going to LPGA Qualifying School and ultimately qualify for the LPGA. She hopes to be an ambassador for girls’ golf and The First Tee.
“My career and view of success has been shaped in large part by my experience in The First Tee,” said Ericka. “The First Tee has taught me that success is both large and small. I want kids to know I went through The First Tee program and started right where they are and that no dream is too big to chase after as long as you work hard at it.”
